A calmer place to learn

Green Teach Alternative Provision delivers trauma-informed, neuro-affirming practice in a nature-based setting for children and young people aged 8–16. It is designed for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, and for learners at risk of disengagement — with learning tailored to individual needs in a calm, sensory-rich environment that reduces anxiety, improves focus and supports emotional regulation.

A passionate educator and community practitioner, dedicated to connecting young people with nature, sustainability and food education inspiring curiosity about the natural world with a strong focus on inclusivity, wellbeing and building confidence and life skills.

An NHS Consultant Anaesthetist who has volunteered at Moss Lane Farm since 2014. Hoon champions the farm as a community place where local people especially children and young people build a lasting sense of belonging to the land and care for the future of Chat Moss.

A primary teacher with over 20 years' experience, committed to inclusive, trauma-informed practice for children with SEND. As a neurodivergent practitioner, Karen creates calm, safe environments where children build relationships, autonomy and a sense of purpose.

Every session is built around meaningful, practical activity building trusting relationships, confidence and real skills along the way.

Market garden

Grow

Grow and harvest vegetables from seed to plate discovering patience, pride and the science behind food, seasonal cycles and sustainable growing.

Woodlands & bushcraft

Explore

Identify trees and plants, engage with bird life, learn conservation practices like composting, plus hammocks, rope swings and campfires.

Animal care

Connect

Feed the horses and chickens, collect eggs and explore life cycles, and walk Max our border collie, building responsibility and empathy through routine.

Cooking & food skills

Make

Prepare and cook food while learning self-sufficiency, food hygiene and safety developing fine motor skills with room to experiment and be creative.

Nature arts & crafts

Create

Willow weaving, clay modelling, bug hotels and bird feeders made from foraged materials expressing emotions and telling stories through making.

Play in the arena

Move

Play-based learning for balance, coordination and movement, collaboration, sensory play, imagination and problem solving that support physical health.

How a placement works

Every placement is planned with the child, their family and the referring school — before, during and after their time with us.

Before

  • Consultation and one-page profile
  • Curriculum overview and bespoke timetable
  • Risk assessments and IEP / EHC objectives
  • Pre-visit, or a virtual alternative

During

  • Induction, information-sharing policies and consent forms
  • Baseline assessments and pupil voice
  • Weekly monitoring and review meetings
  • Celebrations of success and adaptations to the provision

After

  • Joint visits and reintegration to the host school
  • Achievement certificates and transferable skills
  • Transition activities and future aspirations
  • Continued engagement through our HAF programme
